The British short hair pussy-cat, best caught for the world as the model utilized by Lewis Carroll for his famous Cheshire moggy in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, has become more popular since WWII. With a pedigree that goes back to the Roman invasion of Britain, this charming tabby is England’s oldest breed and now the most popular entry in cat shows there. While still rare in the US, the breed has been imported from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and the UK.

Kitty lovers appreciate the British short hair for its chilled out personality. With an enormous, muscly build, the “Brit” likes to get close to its family as opposed to being held and carried.
